Johnny Mandel will be presented with the Los Angeles Jazz Treasure Award at the 5th Annual award ceremony and concert on Friday, September 6th at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on Wilshire Boulevard. The popular Friday night jazz concerts at the museum are under the direction of Mitch Glickman and the Jazz Society has been pleased to be a partner in presenting this prestigious award every year.

Johnny Mandel, who has been acclaimed in the pantheon of American composers, arrangers, record producers and songwriters, received the Jazz Tribute Honoree Award from the Jazz Society in 2007.  He will be joined by his band at the concert which should draw a large number of jazz fans.  Opening the concert, will be last year’s Tribute recipient of the Shelly Manne Memorial New Talent Award, the impressive young pianist, Jamael Dana Dean.
