DESCRIPTION:Luke Henry Davis is a sophomore jazz drummer\, composer\, and arranger at California State University Northridge pursuing his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies. Luke began studying jazz drumming at age six with Tim Metz\, as a teenager with Rick Lotter\, and continued in college with Tina Raymond and Jason Harnell. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Golden 1 Center\, the California Jazz Championships\, international performances including Stockholm\, Sweden and San Sebastián\, Spain as well as on the BBC Global News Podcast. SUMMARY:Young Musicians Showcase Presents - Miri Izenberg Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Miri Izenberg is a trumpet player and vocalist based in Southern California. She is a rising senior at the Orange County School of the Arts\, where she is a member of the jazz conservatory. She performs as a part of the Ambassador Jazz Orchestra and the Colburn Jazz Workshop\, and leads her own quintet\, which was featured at the 2025 Newport Beach Jazz Festival.   A performer in both jazz and classical groups\, Miri has earned national recognition including a DownBeat Student Music Award for vocal solo performance and multiple honors from the Essentially Ellington Festival at Jazz at Lincoln Center.  She has also played at premier venues including Catalina Jazz Club\, Campus Jax\, and Swing 46. \nStudying trumpet with Willie Murillo and John Reynolds and voice with Lia Booth\, Miri draws inspiration from legendary vocalists like Carmen McRae\, Ella Fitzgerald\, Jazzmeia Horn\, and Cécile McLorin Salvant. DESCRIPTION:Bill Green Mentorship Program 2026 \nAuditions for the Los Angeles Jazz Society’s annual Bill Green Mentorship Program are today for those whose applications were accepted.  Talented young musicians – ages 12 to 18 (up to senior in high school) will audition for the opportunity to receive 5 weeks of lessons with a professional jazz musician and participate in jazz band workshops.  Awardees will engage in a final concert performance to be held at Catalina’s Jazz Club in Hollywood on Sunday March 29th. \n

SUMMARY:Jazz in Schools
DESCRIPTION:Jazz in Schools\, initiated by the Los Angeles Jazz Society in 1988\, offers free\, age-appropriate jazz performances to LAUSD elementary schools during February\, Black History Month. The program introduces young students to jazz and recognizes the cultural contributions of African Americans to this uniquely American art form. The concerts are held across all 15 City Council districts\, reaching over 20\,000 children annually.  The program engages students with interactive performances featuring LA’s finest jazz musicians. Students learn about jazz history—including Latin jazz and women in jazz—musical instruments\, improvisation\, and the genre’s influence on pop music\, all while clapping\, marching\, and dancing along.

SUMMARY:Young Musicians Showcase Presents - The Ishaan Natarajan Septet
DESCRIPTION:Ishaan Natarajan is a jazz drummer\, composer\, and music technologist based in Los Angeles\, California. He is currently a student at the nation’s top-ranked arts high school\, LACHSA\, where he performs in the school’s premier Blue Note Combo. Ishaan has participated in the Stanford Jazz Institute and Colburn Jazz Camp and completed songwriting and film\, television\, and game scoring programs at Berklee College of Music. He has studied with renowned artists including Roy McCurdy\, Jerry Kalaf\, Alex Hahn\, Michael Ragonese\, and Mathew Stubbs. \nBefore jazz\, he studied Indian classical percussion\, including tabla and mridangam. He has been invited to perform at venues such as the Hollywood Bowl\, Catalina Jazz Club\, and LACMA\, and was selected to play at LAUSD headquarters. Ishaan has been recognized by the Herbie Hancock Institute as one of the best arts high school jazz musicians in the United States. He is an active member of the Modern Artist Jazz Group (@modernartistjazz)\, founded by Alex Hahn and Michael Ragonese\, and performs in a Colburn-based jazz combo outside of school. Ishaan is currently preparing to release his debut album with the Modern Artist Jazz Group. He has scored media for business companies as well as film and media projects for students at Chapman University and the University of Southern California. \nIshaan founded Soundkey\, a music education AI platform built to support musicians through intelligent practice tools and theory-based learning resources. SUMMARY:Young Musicians Showcase Presents - Wesley Bozman Trio
DESCRIPTION:Wesley Bozman began playing piano at the age of three and trumpet at the age of nine. Classically trained\, Wesley began performing jazz in middle school\, capturing the top award as trumpet soloist in several local competitions and the Outstanding Musician Award at the first National Jazz Festival held in Philadelphia\, February 2020. In high school\, Wesley attended the Philadelphia International Music Festival\, where he studied classical piano with Mark Livshits and Tatiana Abramova\, and he performed in the festival orchestra on trumpet. At the Eastman School of Music Summer Jazz Studies program\, Wesley studied jazz piano with Professor Dariusz Terefenko\, and he later became the jazz pianist for the Philadelphia Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Justin Faulkner\, percussionist for the Branford Marsalis Quartet. \nWesley has been arranging and composing since the age of fourteen and appreciates the opportunities for self-expression and creation inherent in music. Wesley is a jazz piano performance major at the University of Southern California where he studies with Professor Josh Nelson. He was awarded the Emerging Artist Grant from the Jexa Awards\, and was given a grant to perform his original compositions. DESCRIPTION:Named in the memory of the great saxophonist and jazz educator\, the Bill Green Mentorship Program was initiated in 1998 to supplement the education of promising young jazz students and to encourage their development as future professional jazz artists. This program boasts an impressive roster of graduates who are successful performing musicians. \nOver 30 selected music students receive 5 weeks of mentorship lessons in advanced music techniques from professional musicians. The final workshop is a professional recording session with each student receiving a CD of the session. Charlie is a Los Angeles Philharmonic Composer Fellow\, and has participated in Juilliard’s Summer Composition Program.
