The Los Angeles Jazz Society is honored to join the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in presenting the 2025 Jazz Treasure Awards to Roy McCurdy – Jazz drummer, composer and adjunct professor in Jazz Studies at the USC Thornton School of Music. The presentation will include a performance on Friday, September 12th at LACMA.
Drumming since he was 10, McCurdy performed with Cannonball Adderley’s Quintet for 10 years, plus recorded with Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Williams, Herbie Hancock Oscar Peterson, Blood, Sweat & Tears and many more. His influences included Louie Bellson, Shelly Manne, Buddy Rich and many more. The award is presented as part of the LACMA Summer Jazz Series – additional information is forthcoming.
